PART 2 Pick it up where we left off, Jenn! Jenn RM: Do ya’ll have any plans in the near-far future to do a ReConsummation? J. Loren: Yes. We absolutely have plans to do that. We are working on it now. But, we don’t, you know, The Consummation we did before because it was the best we could do. That’s basically led us to being here. I want everyone to see our best foot forward, which is not The Consummation as far as recording quality and a couple of other aspects. I want them to first catch up on the newer stuff, and say “oh this was their intent”. Jenn RM: This is where they started from so let’s listen to it? J. Loren: Yeah, so if you are going to put your best foot forward. You do don’t do that
Jenn RM: You made the statement “If you had it your way Vol I & Vol II would have been a double disc.” The songs were always there? There is nothing new? Loren: Well obviously Ten Ton Brick and Aftermath are new. So not only did we wait. By waiting basically we got enough power to go back into the recording studio again. And we re-recorded the whole thing. So, I don’t think there is even a scrap of the original Vol II sessions on there. Paul: Yeah there is Loren: Is there? Paul: Alone with the Sea (plays air violin & hums a tune) Loren: No no, that’s on The Consummation Paul: Oh really? Loren: Yeah that wasn’t even on Vol II sessions. And there were even songs that were on the Vol II sessions that didn’t become Vol II. So, we just wanted to do the best job possible and it’s not like we had some kind of objective, oh, I’m not going to say “ We must write all the songs” we just put the best songs possible on the album and I want them to mean something so that’s what we did and that’s Vol II. Jenn RM: And it turned out wonderful. Loren: Well, Thank You. Jenn RM: Do you have special songs off Vol I or VOL II that you love playing together or that have outstanding meaning to ya’ll? Or do they all borderline right there, you love them all equally? Loren: What’s your favorite Paul? Paul: I don’t have like a specific song I love listening to. I think playing there are certain songs that I like to play live. I think I like playing House Carpenter. I love playing that live. I like playing Ten Ton Brick and Danse Russe that’s pretty good. Rapture. Loren: We basically get into whatever song we are doing the best of. If we are doing an incredibly great version of that song then I’m in pig heaven. Jenn RM: Do ya’ll think you have grown or changed any as a band since Vol I? Loren: As a band, I say, we have grown. I’m not sure that individual peralis levels have raised but, we have kinda turned the direction and acknowledgement of each other. If every one of the musicians in this band is a more capable musician you learn each other intuitions and play off them. It’s because you know them so well. So, I would say, in that respect as a band yes, we have gotten better. Jenn RM: Ya’ll have such an amazing stage presence. There are a lot of bands out there you see perform live and they each kinda go their own way. But when you are playing you are really together. And I think that means a lot to the fans. Loren: It seems to mean a lot to the fans, I mean it means a lot to us. We keep trying to get even almost to the physic click stage. I don’t know how to explain it. We keep on hammering for, you know, for instance something went wrong at the show the other night and we changed the entire set list on the spot. We kinda cross faded songs into each other and traded parts. After I got off the stage I was like “I’m so proud of you guys” Jenn RM: So who’s the cheerleader for the band? Loren: There is no cheerleader for this band. We are very hard on ourselves. Very rarely do we come off stage and not say what we thought was wrong with what we did or what someone else did. We are very open with that. And if everything was ok then why try anymore. You know what I mean? If you’re not going to try anymore then why do anything. Jenn RM: After this tour is over, ya’ll added about 10 more shows to your myspace. Loren: (Laughing) we did? Paul: Really? Loren: You know we are out on the road and this bus doesn’t have internet access and I don’t know these things for sure, Jenn RM: What are ya’lls plans when this tours over? Paul: (Laughing) I have no idea when the tours over. Loren: We don’t know when the tours over we are praying the fans will keep us alive and keep us in this tour bus long enough to continue the tour and hit every place in the United States that’s begging for us to get there. So that takes quite a while. Jenn RM: The word is out there and people know who you are. Loren: Yes, the word is out there, but unfortunately the records aren’t in stores for some reason. And they can’t keep them on the shelves. They need to ship more and we are dealing with that right now. Jenn RM: Is there anything else ya’ll would like to add that we can put on the site for ya’ll? Something that ya’ll would like to say to the fans? Paul: We just appreciate everything that everybody. We have such great fans, devoted fans that every time we come through town they help us out. “You guys need this you need that.” “You want to stay at my house, you ant to do that?” People are like great fans so we really appreciate the opportunity to keep going and move forward. That’s about it. Loren: I would like to stress that there is always a reason to go on. And that things do get better. And that possibly some people do care a lot about then and they don’t take it to heart and maybe some people who identify with our music might take it to heart if I said that. And that’s what I truly believe and I am “Living Proof” of it.
