Interview with with Brian on May 26, 2006 at the Chicago Metro.

Took me about an hour to finally find Brian for the interview. Tried a few times to reach their tour manager, BIG RED, but with no luck. I finally found Brian standing outside of their tour bus, introduced myself and we headed into the Metro's dressing room.
Your first interview question is never an easy one, so we started at the beginning. When Brian first picked up the guitar back in 1999, he had no idea that forming a band with his buddies would eventually find him placed behind the drum kit. "Everyone played guitar when we started 10 YEARS," he told me in the Chicago Metro's dressing room. "Who ever could keep a decent beat would be the drummer, just happened to be me."
After touring for almost a solid year, the crowd's response to the band has grown. "It used to be most people just knew WASTELAND, then people started really getting into the rest of the songs." Brian does expect their fans "get something out of the lyrics. Jesse's a very deep lyricist. I hope people will want to listen again and again."
Of course Brian had expectations for AUTUMN EFFECT, every artist does, but Brian's were a little different. He was just "hoping for the best" and really "wanting people to understand the album." Which is difficult in the music industry right now. They're not "emo-rush or pop-punk, we're a rock band," he said.
When seeing 10 YEARS live you can expect one helluva show. "Fuck, our live shows are amazing. The substance differs from just listening to the album in your bedroom. We pour out our blood, sweet and guts during live shows." Brian continued by describing their set.
They "add alot" during thier shows. "Jesse is always adding interludes betweens the songs and segways. Depends on how he's feeling that night. Sometimes he'll rant, sometimes it's acapella. Every night is something different." 10 YEARS does not put on a "stock show."
The band, however, is really looking forward to all of the Radio Shows and Festivals coming up. "I can't wait to see METALLICA and GUNS & ROSES in Europe."
I did finally hear back from BIG RED, after I had finished speaking with Brian and had a nice cold one in my had at a bar up the street.
